It’s important that we provide you with everything possible for you to make an informed decision about whether this opportunity is for you. Here we hope we have listed some of the questions you may have and, of course, their answers. All the questions are listed first. To see the answer to individual questions simply click on the question.

1. Is there a real need for your services?

The computer services market for home and small business is huge. In the UK it is estimated that over half the households have at least one computer with nearly a quarter having two or more. That’s at least 15 million potential home based customers! And it’s growing!

In addition to that there are over 4 million small and medium sized businesses in the UK with 300,000 new ones registered every year, 99% of which have one or more computer that is vital to them.

It's also a fact that computers are becoming a bigger part of everyone’s life. Businesses have relied on them for some time whilst individuals now use them to hold their music, photos, films, and access their bank and utility information. In fact it’s fair to say that they are becoming a vital part of normal life.

This means that when they go wrong they need a reliable company who can sort the problem out quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

Industry sources agree that after sales services are now the primary focuses of consumer dissatisfaction in the consumer PC market. (OFT Report).

What does all this mean to us? Well these statistics show that not only is there a massive market, but there is genuine dissatisfaction over current computer service provision and people are desperate for a service driven company that specialises in this market. That’s the great opportunity we (and you) have!

2. How hard is it to get customers?

Getting new customers is never easy but what we can say is that we know how to do it. We also know that we have a unique offer that makes us stand out and that customers find irresistible.

We have put in place a world class sales and marketing process designed by experts. All you have to do is follow the process. The process is simple, but will involve effort on your behalf; for example, you will have to network and get to know other local businesses in your area. If you think this could be a problem for you then why not chat to us in more detail about your experience and we can decide together if this opportunity is right for you?

Remember, there are well over 15 million home PCs and over 4 million small businesses in the UK. That's plenty of potential customers!

3. What’s the competition like?

You only need to ask friends, relatives and colleagues to get the answer to this question. You will quickly realise a number of things:

  • There is no market leader or even a recognised name in this market.
  • Very few offer instant remote support - meaning their customers have to wait and they are less efficient.
  • Even fewer offer pro-active monitoring and management of their customers' systems to help prevent problems occurring in the future.
  • Most of the competition consists of “one man bands” and small stores with no processes, technology or sales & marketing skills.
  • Very few pay attention to important details to such as customer service and presentation.

The result is that by working with The PC Support Group; a professional, service oriented company that specialises in this field and has a unique sales and marketing approach; any franchisee has the ability to easily win business over any competition.

4. What type of person is perfect for this business?

We are very selective about the people we take on board. Why? Because our success is directly related to your success. Therefore we can’t afford to accept just anyone.

We know that the opportunity to work for yourself and earn approaching £100,000 a year is enough to attract a huge number of interested people, that’s why we do have a stringent policy on recruitment.

Typically you will either already be running a small IT operation (probably as a one-man-band) and feel you could benefit from being part of a group with all the support that entails, or you will be currently employed as computer engineer or IT manager, and feel you can achieve much greater financial and personal rewards by being independent.

You will have the technical skills to resolve typical home and small business computer problems (or have the confidence and ability to find the resolution) and you will also have excellent communication skills & be happy to deal with people. Our franchisees normally start with just themselves but quickly add additional engineers to service the increasing customer base... so you need to be an all-rounder.

You will have an ambition to build a first class computer service company that you can be proud of. You will be willing to work extremely hard to achieve that goal but you will equally expect to get back great personal and financial rewards.

We know that this type of person is rare and special but we know you are out there and we are not looking for very many.

5. Why can't I do it myself?

Well you can if you wish but let’s look at what you will need and what we provide if you join us as one of our Regional Director franchisees.

You’ll need to be very confident that you know how to get leads and how to convert those leads into paying customers. We’ve been doing this for years so we know what works and what doesn’t. You could waste a huge amount of time and money finding out. We also have central lead generation which you can benefit from as a franchisee.

Once you have clients then you need to have the necessary knowledge, processes and technical systems to give them great service. We have all these ready to use and we have the testimonials to prove we deliver. Even if you have previous IT support experience, do you really have all of the required business, technical, sales, marketing and customer service skills (and systems) to build a successful IT support business? We do and we can teach you!

Do you have credibility as an individual or will this take time to build? By being a Regional Director for The PC Support Group we add to your credibility from day one which makes gaining business much easier. In his first few weeks one of our franchisees won two major contracts worth thousands; as a one-man band he wouldn't have stood a chance.

And finally, what happens when you haven’t got the answers? As an independent IT engineer/consultant, who can you turn to for support? As a franchisee of The PC Support Group you have a network of fellow IT professionals to consult and direct access to The PC Support Group management. You’ll never go wanting for support.

6. What can I expect to earn?

We openly make no promises as such a key part of the business is you and your hard work but we feel that it should be possible for each franchise to achieve a turnover in excess of £350K with gross profits approaching £100K. Obviously earnings start more modestly but increase fairly quickly in years 2 and 3.

7. What support structure do you have in place?

We believe that the support structure of any franchise organisation is one of the most important aspects of running a successful franchise. You have to know that you’ll never be left alone ‘to get on with it’.

Of course our training and operations manuals are so detailed you won’t need constant supervision, but you will need help from time to time. That’s why we have a structure in place that ensures your success…

From a business management perspective you have direct access to our management team who have over 20 years of high level management experience including building a multi-million pound computer business from scratch.

From a technical perspective you have access to our 2nd line technical support.

You also have access to a number of superb systems including our Extranet and Customer Relationship Management system which massively improve your ability to manage your customers and your business.

We are convinced that you will not find better support in this sector.

8. How much is the Franchise fee?

The fee is currently only £12,477+VAT!

In addition to the fee you will need to invest approximately £4,500+VAT in equipment, stock and other standard business set-up costs

Why is the fee so low? Our business is about providing great IT Support, not selling franchises, so we intentially don't make a huge profit on the fee so we can attract the best people, not the wealthiest.

We already know that what we do works; all we need is great people to replicate this throughout the UK.

9. Do I have to pay a monthly management fee?

All ongoing payments you make to us are based on the success of your business. There is no fixed fee! If you don’t earn a penny (not that this will happen!), then neither do we!

On a monthly basis you will be invoiced for a Management Service Fee which is calculated based on your product and service revenue. The actual percentage varies depending on your product/service ratio but it typically averages out at about 11%.

10. What are the typical working hours per week?

About 50 hours per week although this will change as your business develops.

Initially you may need or want to work more to help establish the business but when you have 4 or 5 engineers you may want to work considerably less.

Our official hours for taking support calls are 8:00AM to 8:00PM Monday to Friday and 8:00AM to 6:00PM on Saturday so you need to be available during these hours.

Generally the more time and effort you put in the more you will get back.

11. Where will my customers be located?

Each exclusive territory is demographically mapped to ensure a substantial and equal opportunity for each franchisee. All of your customers will be located within this area which means you are never more than about 30 minutes drive from any customer. The exception being some of our more remote territories which cover greater areas.

12. How much of a technical expert do I need to be?

This franchise opportunity is ideal for someone with good technical computer knowledge as you will be required to service your customers and resolve IT issues from day one. However, we are prepared to offer the franchise to sales and management professionals with some IT experience provided they are prepared to employ a skilled IT engineer from day one.
